MUSIC AS LITERATURE

I believe we can consider music to be literature because it's a piece of writing which contains a message or can tell a story (romantic, adventure, etc.)
The difference between a novel, a poem, a rap, a song, an opera, and a symphony is the way it sounds because they're all can be sing or read at the same speed but they're all different genres.

Prompt: Does The Great Gatsby symbolized a time period in the U.S, or can it be related to different times.
